Professional Development Services

Who Are We?

  • Professional development services deals with all matters related to the 3,000 professionals working in Jewish Community Centers throughout North America. This includes recruiting quality professionals to fill vacancies in JCCs; enhancing a JCC’s staff retention potential; monitoring and leading changes in personnel practice; studying and publication of trends, including salaries. The department also provides scholarships for students enrolled in master’s degree programs that will lead to or enhance professional careers in the Jewish Community Center Movement. We help to develop and coordinate a myriad of staff development and learning opportunities with local JCCs, regional groups of JCC's, as well as continental training and development programs.

We Maintain jccworks.com!

  • Available JCC positions are posted on the Web (www.jccworks.com).
  • Job seekers can check positions on the Web.
  • Each applicant fills out a profile application.
  • The profile, resume, and reference letters are sent to JCC Association for review.
  • JCCs get a pool of qualified candidates.

We Recruit People to Join the JCC Family!

  • We provide ongoing recruitment and placement services for professionals, as well as executive placement. Click here for a list of recent professional appointments.
  • We staff trade shows and job fairs to help get the word out about JCC Association and the JCC Movement.
  • We travel to college campuses around the country, recruiting people to work in the JCC field.
  • We meet with career services, various academic departments and Hillel organizations at colleges and universities to let them know the jobs that are available, as well as the type of students JCCs are seeking.
  • We screen and interview potential candidates, maintain a-database on the Web and refer qualified candidates to JCCs.
  • Held every other year, the JCCs of North America Professional Conference brings together JCC professionals from North America for four days of training in a variety of disciplines. The 2005 Conference will take place Sunday-Wednesday, April 3-6 at the Philadelphia Marriot.

We Provide Graduate Education Scholarships!

  • JCC Association administers graduate-education scholarships for students interested in pursuing careers in Jewish Community Centers. This aid perpetuates the entire JCC Movement and enhances the level of service at individual JCCs. The deadlines for applications for the 2005-2006 academic year is Tuesday February 1, 2005.
