Jewish
Social Action Month
It
is not too late for your JCC to participate in the continental
blood drive during the Hebrew month of Cheshvan. Many JCCs
and communities already run blood drives and this is an easy
way to have your local effort be part of something bigger.
To get your JCC involved, e-mail jkogan@jcca.org.
Jewish Social Action
Month occurs during the Hebrew month of Cheshvan, (Oct 13-Nov
10, 2007) the only month in the Jewish calendar without holidays.
This is a great time to dedicate ourselves to the fundamental
Jewish value of social justice, and implement the promises
made during the High Holy Days. Jewish Social Action Month
encourages Jews across the world to delve into the Jewish
text and our cultural tradition of social action, and find
ways to create change and better the world. With the backing
of the Knesset and the Israel’s Ministry for Israeli
Society and World Jewish Community, Cheshvan was declared
an annual international celebration dedicated to the Jewish
values of tzedek, chesed and aryevut (justice, kindness, and
social responsibility).
