JCC Camping Services
The day and resident camps affiliated with JCC Association represent the largest network of Jewish camps in North America. Serving thousands of Jewish children, teens and staff members on more than 150 sites, JCC Camps share a commitment to provide the highest quality camping experiences within unique Jewish environments. JCC Camps dot the landscape of North American Jewish communities, and their programs, size, specialties and facilities reflect the JCC Movement’s diversity and their own organization’s mission.
In order to provide leadership and support to JCC Camps, JCC Association’s Camping Services offer affiliated day and resident camps:
- Our fulltime Camping Services Director and fellow Merrin Center professionals are dedicated to the leadership and oversight of all services to camps.
- We represent JCC Camps in the development of relationships, sponsorship and other strategic planning.
- We coordinate and lead Conferences and Professional Development programs, including multi-day annual programs for all levels of JCC Camp professionals.
- We provide specialized on-site consultation in the areas of facility and site planning, operational management, staff training, crisis response, programming and other areas.
- We provide ongoing consultation and support for camp professionals and JCC/Camp Executive Directors in the areas of recruitment, staff development and compensation.
- We coordinate JCC Camps’ access to resources and programs, including Day/Resident Camp Professionals’ Listservs, JCC Resources Intranet Site, Webinar and Conference Calls on a variety of topics, Surveys and “Best Practice” documents, as well as a wealth of other information culled from camping and related fields.
- Through affiliation, JCC Camps receive access to a discounted J-1 visa program (for camp counselors), and enhanced service with the Jewish Agency for Israel Summer Shlichim Program.
- JCC Camps are given access to new and ongoing initiatives designed to benefit their development and success.
Mandel Center for Jewish Education
Consultation by the Mandel Center for Jewish Education’s professionals to address the needs of each camp’s Jewish and educational programs and access to the following programs:
Lekhu Lakhem: Jewish Educational Journeys for JCC Camp Directors – A two-year program to train and develop the Jewish educational vision and skills of camping professionals, including seminars in North America and Israel.
Hemshekh and Netivim – Continuing educational programs for Lekhu Lakhem Senior Fellows to further their learning and to support their development of initiatives within their own camp communities.
Chizuk: Jewish Programming Directors Strengthening Lekhu Lakhem Camps – The funding and addition of senior-level Jewish Programming Directors in camps to organically integrate meaningful, purposeful, quality Jewish content and experiences.
The Goodman Family Institute – Yisrael Sheli: A Teen Program of Israel Education and Experience – To enhance teenagers’ connection to the State of Israel through a curriculum featuring a series of programs within different subject areas, all adapted for the camp setting.
TAG (Torah, Avodah + Gemilut Chasadim): Jewish Values through JCC Camping® - A curricular initiative designed to enrich the Jewish components of JCC Camps through over 35 programming units.
