| U.S. Surgeon General to Speak at Biennial in Miami
The nation's top health official, Rear Admiral Steven K. Galson, M.D., M.P.H., Acting Surgeon General of the United States, will speak on Wednesday, May 7 at 9:30 a.m. about the public health issues facing us and how JCCs can make a difference. Come to the Biennial and See Off-Broadway Hit
Iris Bahr transforms herself into many different characters in a provocative and hard-hitting one- person show about contemporary Israel that she'll be performing at the JCCs of North America Biennial . In the play called Dai (Hebrew for enough) Bahr moves effortlessly from an Israeli ex-pat to an American Latina actress to a Palestinian professor, bringing each character to life. Set in an Israeli café just before a bombing, the play is both funny and tragic, moving and illuminating. An Israeli native who grew up in the U.S., Bahr has a sharp insight into both societies and is an exciting performer. A hit off-Broadway, Dai has been performed all over the States. Don't miss it at the Biennial. Register now.

Grants Available for Camper Outreach JCC Association is piloting a special outreach program for brand-new campers from Russian- speaking families at four camps this summer, thanks to a generous grant from the Foundation for Jewish Camp and the Genesis Philanthropy Group, through the Jewish Funders Network. The goal of the program is to provide incentives to encourage children from Russian backgrounds to attend Jewish resident camps and benefit from that identity-building experience. We are helping the camps with training, marketing, and evaluation. The pilot camps are Camp JCA Shalom in Los Angeles; Pinemere Camp, Philadelphia; Camp Wise, Cleveland; and JCC Maccabi Camp Kingswood in Boston. For more information, contact Charlene Wendell, cwendell@jcca.org , or (212)786-5126. |

| Bringing Passover to the Troops
Thanks to generous contributions from Manischewitz, Gold's, and Kraft Foods, which supplied Maxwell House haggadahs, JWB Jewish Chaplains Council packaged and sent 550 boxes of Passover supplies to Jewish troops stationed abroad and at remote bases so they could celebrate the upcoming holiday. This year, the boxes contained kosher-for-Passover cookies, chocolate-covered jelly rings, chocolate- covered matzah, and other holiday treats.
