Jewish Programming Directors at Jewish Community Resident Camps


Goodman Family Fellows at JCC Residential Camps

Mandel Center for Jewish Education of the Jewish Community Centers Association of North America is seeking qualified educators to serve as Jewish Programming Directors at Jewish Community resident camps across the continent.

Candidates should be learned Jews whose primary work involves Jewish education. Jewish Programming Directors will be knowledgeable about, experienced with, and interest in working in Jewish residential camps; able to and desirous of working in a multi- and non-denominational setting; dynamic educators who can work effectively with campers, counselors and other senior staff; personable and charismatic; ideally, available for more than a single summer; motivated to continue enhancing their own Judaic knowledge and educational expertise; capable of inspiring, guiding and supervising colleagues from multiple disciplines.

The mandate of the Jewish Programming Director is to attempt to touch all aspects of the camp and organically integrate meaningful, purposeful, quality Jewish content and experiences that add to the magic and joy of the camp program. The Jewish Programming Director will work together with, and report directly to, the Camp Directors.

The Jewish Programming Director must be in residence for the summer season, and available for pre-camp preparations, training and orientation.

The Mandel Center for Jewish Education of the Jewish Community Centers Association of North America is seeking highly qualified specialists to serve as Goodman Family Fellows at JCC residential camps throughout North America.

Goodman Fellows are responsible for implementing Yisrael Sheli (My Israel): a Teen Program of Israel Education and Experience for JCC Resident Camps. Yisrael Sheli is an informal Jewish educational curriculum for teens in JCC resident camps.

You are an ideal candidate for the Goodman Fellowship if you possess extensive Israel experience, familiarity with the Hebrew language, experience in residential camping and experience working with teenagers. Goodman Fellows should be dynamic, charismatic leaders with the ability to work with diverse populations.

Goodman Fellows will model knowledge about and love of modern Israel as a core element of Jewish identity, impart this knowledge and love of Israel to the pre-college and college-age staff at camp, and create an Israel culture and atmosphere at camp that is pervasive, natural and internalized and leads to life-long loyalty to the Jewish State.

JCC resident camps throughout North America have positions available. Goodman Fellows will be in residence full-time at a camp during the summer months and will participate in a pre-summer training seminar and preparatory meetings in the spring.

Goodman Fellows will receive a highly competitive salary.
