Institute #1
Adults & the JCC: Defining Ourselves
In an age where organizations and departments are fighting for distinction, what makes the adult services department at the JCC unique? We will discuss and clarify our roles and responsibilities, target audience, and program areas.  We will question what is the JCC niche in the community and in adult programming? Who is the competition and what do they offer? What are we doing and what could we offer that would set us apart from the competition?  What are we doing and what could we be doing to collaborate and partner within the JCC and in the community at large?  Explore and share best practices and professional challenges.

Chairs: Bonnie Wind & Jodi Valenstein

What Does a Mall Have to Do with Jewish Learning?

JCC Association’s Mandel Center for Jewish Education is developing an Adult Jewish Learning program.  It is called Kanyon, the Hebrew word for mall.  The mall as a concept, not a place, embodies choice, variety and diversity. We are seeking your involvement and input in the development of this program which will be made available to all JCCs.  You will also experience a Jewish learning component that you can take home with you.
