Mandel Center at JCC Association Joins with AVI CHAI to Launch Jewish Journey for JCC Resident Camp Directors


JCC Association is pleased to announce the Mandel Center for Jewish Education's first cohort of AVI CHAI-Mandel Senior Fellows chosen to participate in Lekhu Lakhem: Jewish Educational Journeys for JCC Resident Camp Directors, a two-year seminar sponsored by a generous grant from AVI CHAI.

The Senior Fellows are:

From December 2004 through December 2006, these 14 Senior Fellows will participate in a series of five seminars in North America, one extended seminar in Israel, along with an ongoing program of Jewish learning and educational mentoring. They will be exposed to and learn from renowned scholars, teachers, camp educators and mentors. “Our vision for Lekhu Lakhem incorporates taking our directors on personal journeys of Jewish learning and infusing them with the passion to provide Jewish and educational visionary leadership to their camps,” said Dr. Alvin Mars, director of the Mandel Center for Jewish Education at JCC Association.

MCJE was founded to contribute to Jewish educational excellence in JCCs by providing training opportunities for the professional personnel and lay leaders of JCCs and the JCC Movement, and by inspiring and offering guidance to JCCs that are developing Jewish educational initiatives.

AVI CHAI is a private foundation committed to the perpetuation of the Jewish people, Judaism, and the centrality of the State of Israel to the Jewish people.
