Program
to Develop Dynamic Teen Leaders Underway at
JCC Association
Teenagers are a
tough crowd to reach. That’s why philanthropists Seth
Merrin and Anne Heyman established the JCC Teen Professional
Fellows Program at JCC Association. Dynamic and inspired teen
professionals have a much better chance of inspiring Jewish
teens to embark on their own Jewish journeys.
The fourth class
of JCC Teen Fellows starts its two-year professional-development
program on December 12 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with 15
young JCC professionals. The two-year program, heavily subsidized
by JCC Association, provides three experiential institutes,
one seminar in Israel, mentoring and professional development
support, and participation in the 2005 JCCs of North America
Professional Conference.
All the candidates--nominated
by the executive directors of their JCCs-- work primarily
with junior and senior high school teens. The first institute
will focus on who teens are and what they need, how to be
a role model, and how teen professionals can evaluate their
own Jewish journeys. A significant amount of time will be
dedicated to creating and implementing innovative programming,
the best way to reach teens.
