GesherCity.org bridges young adults (primarily in their early
20's and 30's) to the Jewish community by providing access
to Networks and Information Resources.
The Need.
Jewish young adults in their 20's and 30's are one of the
hardest demographics to engage given their busy lives, changing
lifestyles, and transitory nature. Many young adults fail
to recognize the wealth of existing Jewish institutions and
the relevance of those resources to their lives. As a result,
few get involved in their local Federations, JCCs or other
Jewish agencies and many are disengaged from the Jewish community
altogether. Some attempt to get involved, but by the time
they do, they are forced to move for educational, professional,
or
personal reasons.
GesherCity has identified that young adults lack a single
point of access to Jewish community information and resources,
and that they desire a convenient and non-threatening method
to meet Jewish peers and connect to Jewish organizations.
Although various programs exist or are being developed to
focus on different aspects of the Jewish community (i.e. singles,
cultural, spiritual, educational, social justice, etc.), none
focus on the entire framework. Moreover, given their particular
niche, these programs are unable to cater to the diverse interests
of the young adult Jewish community. Furthermore, because
they are not provided via a coordinated effort across communities,
young adults who are new to town or the Jewish community usually
find it slow and difficult to get connected.
GesherCity has developed the methodologies that successfully
fulfill these voids, the technology to implement and support
a coordinated effort across communities, and the brand and
national strategy to outreach to a transient young adult population.
GesherCity's network of "bridges" is a seamless
gateway to the Jewish community for young adults - both online
and in-person. Through a coordinated, technology enabled effort,
we are able to connect young adults that would not otherwise
have learned of the local Jewish community, and do so faster
and more effectively than before.
